Woodland Caribou Provincial Park Fishing

Woodland Caribou Outfitters

Spectacular sport fishing awaits the anglers on a wilderness canoe trip. Many of Woodland Caribou's drinking water lakes are fished only a few times a year. Since travel is by canoe fishermen practice catch and release fishing only keeping what they need to eat. Trophy fish are released since it would be impractical to carry them out!  Even remote fly in areas are not as good for fishing as the waters of Woodland Caribou Park.   The Park supports most of the major freshwater game fish, lake trout, walleye, northern pike, a few smallmouth bass and occasionally sturgeon and muskie! Woodland Caribou Provincial Parke Fishing

At Woodland Caribou Outfitters, we'll show you where the fish can be found. Our route planners are experienced fishermen who know nearly every lake in the Park!  While live bait fish is prohibited in the Park worms and leeches are allowed.  Most of our guests use artificial lures and the fishing is so good live bait is not necessary. We strongly recommend the use of barbless hooks. Woodland Caribou Park is renown for its high quality walleye, northern pike and lake trout fishery.  About a third of the lakes are lake trout lakes producing trout right through the heat of the summer. Walleye thrive in another third, generally those lakes of lower elevation with spawning rivers or shoals. Northern pike frequent nearly all lakes and some pike reach record sizes. Bass occur in only two lakes.   Muskellunge occur in the south west corner around Irregular Lake
